The promotion of sustainable food systems through the open schooling approach

On 27th and 30th of November 2023 a 3-hours online training session will be held by CVIVA. Our choices as consumers will have a major impact on the food systems that bring us the food we consume. How can we raise awareness in the community about the importance of sustainable food systems? And if changes must start at school, do students know the “history” of the food they consume? FOODSHIFT PATHWAYS: educational strategies for transforming the food system workshop

In the context of Farm to Fork: our food, our health, our future congress, that took place 16-18/11 in Castelo Branco Portugal Foodshift Pathways implemented a 1,5-hours face-to-face workshop entitled “FOODSHIFT PATHWAYS: EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIES FOR TRANSFORMING THE FOOD SYSTEM” on 16th of November 2023 hosted by Ellinogermaniki Agogi & CVIVA. In this workshop, strategies were shared that can serve as a reference for future-oriented curricula, more aligned with current environmental challenges. Online Educational Scenario Contest following the living labs approach on the food system transformation with award the participation @ the FOODSHIFT2023 Summer school

A national & European Contest about the design of a learning scenario is organised in the context of FoooSHIFT2030 and Foodshift Pathways projects. The Greek national contest aims to inspire and encourage teachers of primary and secondary education to design and implement "Living Labs" school projects on the theme of the food system, also integrating citizen science principles. While large parts of society are increasingly concerned with the way we produce and consume food, the topic of sustainable food chains and healthy diets appears to be missing in the curricula of most schools. However, dietary habits start to develop at an early age.
